Unwarranted NSA surveillance, the passage of NDAA, stop and frisk programs, and the rise of warrior cops, have essentially turned America into a centralized police state.

Blurring the lines between the U.S. military and local sheriff departments sets a dangerous precedent that erodes freedom and civil liberties.

Those lines are being blurred right now in South Carolina.

According to The State, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department will participate in secretive joint exercise Monday and Tuesday with unnamed units from Ft. Bragg.

The drills are scheduled to run up to midnight on both days and occur primarily in Lower Richland, around Hopkins and Eastover. Exercises will also take place around the Screaming Eagle Road near Elgin and North Richland County near outbound Monticello Road.

According to The State, a sheriff’s department spokesman refused to provide which units from Ft. Bragg are involved. Ft. Bragg is home to the U.S. Army’s elite groups, including the Special Forces and Delta Force.

The spokesman also said the drills would be noisy at times.

“Citizens may see military and departmental vehicles traveling in and around rural and metropolitan areas and may hear ordnance being set off or fired which will be simulated/ blanks and controlled by trained personnel,” a sheriff’s department press release said.

The secretive exercises are off limits to the media, reports The Activist Post.

The implications are serious.

Locally elected Sheriffs take an oath to uphold, preserve, and defend the Constitution. They are not an extension of the centralized federal government. They have the ultimate say in their county as the top law enforcement officer.

If sheriff deputies engage an enemy in conjunction with the U.S. military who do they take orders from? The ARMY commander? Or their Sheriff?

This violates the separation of local authorities and the federal government. If the separation of powers are eliminated, who will protect the Constitutional rights of citizens?

UPDATE: Benswann.com’s Joshua Cook has submitted a FOIA request to get more details about this exercise.

These are the first stages of a fascist takeover with the implementation of a police state. These are unconstitutional activities and all deputies participating should be immediately terminated and the sheriffs involved should be removed from office. Criminal charges should also be discussed to hold those oath breakers accountable for their actions. Wake up people and look around you. Time is getting short and you are on the short end.

    • Kyle Resse

We’ll as gloomy as things may look, when you really think about it they are only training what will ultimately be the resistance that will stand shoulder to shoulder with the American people in the end. It’s not going to be pretty, but in the very “Toys” they are giving police depts. right now (in an attempt to grow the police state and buy the affections of cops) will be their own undoing. Who are “They” you might ask? if your asking that your not paying attention. And “They” even with all of their “Think tanks” better think again about what really is going to happen. Because “They” are dead wrong. You think any cop or US soldier is going to obey an order from the criminal Obama administration to fire on a crowd of libertarian protesters that his own mother is standing in? or raid an organic farm that Mosanto doesn’t like that provides safe non GMO food for his family? Hell no! “They” may have pulled the wool over most of the simple minded American that still watch the state media on TV about 911 and Oklahoma City , but “They” won’t even come close to pulling off what they are trying to turn America into. Too many REAL Americans died and gave their lives for what America stood for, and what it will become again.

What rights you mug ? You haven’t got any. America is a fascist state.

We need a national militia training convention aimed at teaching the heads of state militias to work in conjunction with each other for the betterment and safety of the citizens of the United States of America.

We don’t have any information, therefor we are going to make up a worst case scenario and publish it to make a point.

Serious this entire article is nothing but speculation. If what you imply is true, yes that would be bad, but for all we know they are playing a game of team paint ball for bragging rights. Why not investigate versus publish pure speculation?

Oh a spokes person refused to tell us, and media is not allowed… So FOIA them!

    • denise0513

Do you have any idea of how long it takes to push and FOIA through?

      • Draken

20 Business days for any Federal request

15 Business days for a South Carolina request

If the implications are as serious as we are lead to believe, one month is nothing in terms of timelines.

        • denru

One month may be nothing in timelines, but it is MORE than enough time to cover things up or make it “disappear”. Just playing devil’s advocate for a moment. NOT promoting “tinfoil hat” theories.

          • Draken

If a conspiracy was afoot, a month would be enough time to do a lot of things. Yes, I’ll concede that point to you.

I’m cool with you playing devil’s advocate. Lord knows that I tend to do that as well. But at the same time, if they wanted to keep this hidden they would have held it on base, not on public land. They wouldn’t have announced it either. Do you really believe that they are going to black bag classify everything right after they publicly announced that they were going to do this?

In this situation I see nothing but wild speculation and fear mongering. I find that unacceptable. This was supposed to be the ‘truth in media project’ after all.

Top of the page: ‘fearless, investigative, grassroots, journalism.’ I see here the dissemination of fear, a refusal to investigate, and as a result a complete lack of journalism. I’ll give them ‘grassroots’ as this story started from an independent blogger, but otherwise this is another questionable article that fails to live up to the standards they themselves set.

        • denise0513

FOIA’s have taken much longer in many cases. Judicial Watch has had to take organizations to court in order to get them to comply with FOIA’a so to say it wouldn’t take long is not correct.

          • Draken

I won’t deny that FOIA is imperfect. Yes both sides can abuse it. I’ve also read about the various court battles that FOIA request’s have spawned, so no there is no guarantee that it will only be one month. But FOIA does provide statutory damages for non-compliance. The agency can be fined for failure to comply. Now yes this is still pittance in the large scheme of things, but it is still a tool that could be used to get around ‘no comment’

The larger issue is that this entire article is pure speculation. I don’t know about you, but I expect more from ‘truth in media’ project than wild speculation. That is why I commented.

i think the author of this need to learn the word essentially as it Long gone to a police state. more people killed in the past decade by troops converted to pigs, than troops killed in duty. hang the troops and pigs, one and the same.

Still going to “support our troops” when they’re banging on your front door, folks?

  • PattyD

I’d like to be a little more optimistic and hope that this sheriff is training his law enforcement officers to be better prepared in the event of a DHS ‘police state’. Who better to train them than the US military elite forces? Not all sheriffs – or military troops – support the president & federal government and it is unwarranted to jump to conclusions until we know further information re: what exactly this training is for.

    • Just Sayin….

      Katrina victims will not agree…

    • Dawn

That’s probably exactly what they’re doing. However I absolutely fail to see how on earth a DHS police state is a positive notion to be “optimistic” about. In a police state YOU, the citizens are the enemy.

  • poof

All you have to do,is study Germany from 1913-1944 to see we are following in their footsteps.

  • steve

Just a heads up to anyone who wants to get their underwear all twister over this. We’ve been doing drills with police departments for at least a solid 20 years now. When I was in the army (special operations) we had police act as opposition forces for us during some training. We also had them act as local forces that we had to work in conjunction with for training where we’d have to work with local forces overseas. This has been going on for awhile and isn’t anything new.

Fort Bragg is in North Carolina. Fort Jackson is in SC and is the base that the training is being conducted with…no Delta Force, Green Berets or Ranger BNs there.

That said. Still not a great idea.

Oh Ben…Don’t let them post these in your name.

  • JP

A joint enforcement action would cause an issue… Receiving training from an elite unit does not. Many agencies engage cartel members in extreme rural areas and the training could be very useful to save lives.

I can give one example of where we chased and tracked down a member in a clandestine grow operation. He literally vanished on us. We came back the next day and I found a downed and hollowed out tree where he hid over night (MRE, dirty cloths, 9mm ammo, etc). He could have killed our whole team had been equipped properly.

I wasn’t in the military long enough to be trained for that.

  • Ngallendou

Whilst it remains dim-witted pigs who mercilessly beat and maim citizens, in small numbers, it is mostly naive young men whom the state perverts into warriors that wrongly believe they must get trained to take orders to battle enemies. God created young men to love young women, to rear children and to dwell peaceably in community. However, globalist bankers, motivated by Satan, drive young men to forsake women, to despise children and to kill supposed enemies. Men, fear only God! Obey his laws! Refuse to take up arms against fellow citizens!

    • fatwillie

Well said, keep up the good work and word. Thank you

  • Paul Morani

Is it Robin Sage time for the possible Green Berets?? This could be one reason…just saying..

    • XRGRSF

I suppose things could change, but I’ve never known Robin Sage to be conducted anywhere other than Bragg, and the surrounding area. After a local deputy murdered an SF officer, and shot an EM, both in training, I think coordination is a major thing in today’s exercises. Anyway, SF has a history of training with local LEOs. That said, I’m seriously concerned by the militarization of peace officers. Maybe, someone should stop, and remember that the key word in peace officer is peace.

      • Draken

I agree and I am also concerned, but it is a catch 22, tactically armed police because of hostility towards police, hostility towards police because of tatically armed police.

Heck many agencies didn’t start amassing AR-15’s and other higher power weapons until crooks started using body armor and full automatic weapons.

  • Busdriver Bill

This reminds me that I saw four military style “dump” trucks on my (rural) road last week. These were painted a light khaki color, had military style markings which I couldn’t read for distance, and looked foreign made – Chinese or Russian. Are we having foreign troops in our land? I asked my local paper’s newsroom, but have received no answer. Perhaps I should ask my local sheriff?

    • Ricky Ross

Try it…he is a politician though, so do not count on any truth coming from his mouth…

    • Michael B

You probably saw US Army trucks, which are painted khaki/sand color since 1991. The Army has bought several hundred thousand MERCEDES trucks as part of our NATO alliance.

  • Raygn P Leisure

This is a non story. I have witnessed these kind of exercises going on since the 90’s.. When I lived in another town every couple of years they would do exercises in our town with local people . Nothing new.

  • Watchful Will

I’m waiting for a citizen revolt, as outlined in the Constitution as acceptable, put down by a military and police force so as to create a culture of fear and submission.

    • Draken

Funny thing about the Constitution, not only does it reserve the right of the people to rebel, it also give the Gov the power to quash rebellion…

      • Deborah A.

Actually, the Constitution was written to protect the people from government abuse of power like the colonists experienced prior to the Revolutionary War. When the government becomes “oppressive” it is our “duty” to overthrow it. Yes, any power hungry dictator can quash a rebellion, but that is not what America is SUPPOSED to be.

        • Draken

          Article I, Section 8
          The Congress shall have Power…
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.

          Article I, Section 9
The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

The Constitution specifically gives Congress the power to suppress insurrections, and on top of that allows Congress to lock people away without trial in the event of rebellion. Do you really think this was an oversight by our founding fathers? Personally, I don’t think it was. These clauses were put in place to ensure that only the majority could rise up against the Gov, and not a smaller faction.

I see the Constitution as balance, in order to make sure that balance is protected, the Gov needs to be able to protect itself against the momentary whims of the people. Seriously how would this nation function if every 10 years or so the Gov was overthrown because someone didn’t like the election results?

Now yes, from time to time the Gov. gets out of control and we as a people need to do something about it. I’m cool with that idea, and I’m sure the Founding Fathers would agree, that doesn’t mean that it is going to be easy, nor should it be easy.

Our Constitution is by design able to be changed to meet the needs of the people. It takes quite a bit of effort to do so, but again that’s good. Difficulty prevents people from making changes they may later regret.

  • Stuffed Llama

South Carolina, where did you go wrong? Well, let’s start with Fort Sumter. If your great grandpas or great great grandpas, hadn’t fired on the Yankees, but waited for Lincoln to strike the first blow, then opinion would have been on their side and things might have turned out different — but no! Then, you, their great grandsons and daughters or great great grandsons and daughters join the Party of Lincoln and send Lindsay Graham to the Senate! Of course, the army is training with the sheriff in your towns. What did you expect?

    • Michael B

Lincoln did provoke the war, in 4 ways.

1: he mobilized the Militia of 25 states to “put down” the free and elected governments of SC and the other Confederate States. (Act of War)
2: he occupied Baltimore, Annapolis, and the entire Southern State of Maryland with foreign troops (Mass and NY) and had citizens, legislators, police officials and others arrested and detained w/out charge at Ft McHenry and the Old Capitol Prison
3: he occupied Alexandria and Arlington and other parts of Virginia
4: He sent a supply ship to Ft Sumter to break the siege/blockade after the commander had agreed to surrender honorably upon exhausting his supplies.

  • Dawn

How do you get around posse comitatus? Simple, militarize the police and sheriff’s depts.

    • Michael B

False, bogus, and simply untrue. Sheriffs are still ELECTED by the people of the County, and have ALWAYS been “militarized” since the dark ages.

They have worn uniforms, carried military weapons, and used military techniques since before 1776.

  • Ricky Ross

Massive surveillance of an entire nation, secret prisons, secret courts, secret
laws, secret judges, secret police, secret interpretation of laws, secret list, secret hearings, secret evidence, militarization of local police forces with weapons/vehicles of war, the largest prison population on earth, internal spy drones, millions of internal domestic spies, indefinite detention without charge or trial under NDAA, TSA deployed onto public streets, DHS purchase of enough ammo to sustain a 25 year war, DHS purchase of 9,000 armored check point booths from “Shelters Direct” in April 2012, forced purchase of corporate commodities, propaganda media, a call for the arrest of journalist, eugenics programs, endless wars, etc, etc, etc,

Americans should not be surprised that these types of operations are going on! It is to be expected to happen when a populace allows all of the above to occur … it is a natural progression of TYRANNY!

  • ilivefreeordie

Seems that Richland County needs a new Sheriff!

For more than 40 years Robin Sage, the culmination exercise for the SFQC, has been the litmus test for Soldiers striving to earn the coveted Green Beret. It is during Robin Sage, held in 15 rural North Carolina counties, that Soldiers must put all of the skills they have learned throughout the SFQC to the test in an unconventional-warfare training exercise that is unequalled. The exercise, broken into two phases, puts students on their first SFODA. The SFODA is trained, advised and mentored throughout the entire exercise from mission receipt through planning and infiltration. During the first week, the students are taught the necessary skills to survive and succeed in a UW environment utilizing the small group instruction teaching methodology. The remaining three weeks focus on their planning and application during Robin Sage. The students are placed into an environment of political instability characterized by armed conflict that forces Soldiers to exercise both individual and collective problem solving. A key to the success of the Robin Sage training is its real-world feel that is established by the use of guerrilla forces. The SFODA must assess the combat effectiveness of the G-forces, and then train them in basic individual tasks from each of the MOSs as well as collective tasks in basic small-unit tactics, while remaining responsive to asymmetrical challenges. Just as language plays a key role in all other phases of the pipeline, language skills will be put to the test during Robin Sage. During this training, the SFODA must demonstrate its knowledge of UW doctrine and operational techniques.

  • Jeff

If its so secret, how did all this information come about? criminals are getting more and more desperate and upgrading the training for your local Sheriffs isn’t a bad thing. If they were hunting down the animals that invaded your home, raped your family and shot your dog, I would think you want your Sheriff to have been trained under the best. Regardless of what many would have you think, the Sheriffs are still looking for bad guys. Let em train! They are protecting US! We don’t need Rookies! Every story has more than one side…ALL stories want to be READ! Scary sells, Sex Sells, Stupid Sells….Safety doesn’t sell so much, yet that is one thing we all want! Time to re-evaluate America. I think that it was Dr Martin Luther King Jr who said something along the lines of “Freedom should be more doing what we ought to do instead of whatever we wanna Do.” I don’t like big brother and I don’t like prisons…Chances are, if I behave I wont have to worry about either, although the media might make you think differently. People grumble about having to learn another language to communicate in sections of our communities, yet the time we spend on BS media and candy crush saga could be better served earning a degree in another language. Be wary readers, all stories just wanna be read! I don’t normally post much, but after meeting with Sheriffs and local police on a weekly basis, I find that they are normal people wanting normal lives…AND they are willing to risk their lives so you can have the same, so spend your FREE time wisely…Find some way to participate and Give Back to your community..IN whatever capacity you are capable, no kind gesture is too small…

    • Scott Freewell

You are a sheep and with that attitude you are basically already living in a prison.

    • eccles11

The irony of invoking MLK. Considering how much effort the federal government spent trying to destroy him and how hostile local police departments were to black liberation.

Maybe if the police were this well trained in the 60s, we’d still have our own fountains.

    • Christopher Ayala Menchaca

You are missing the entire point sir, we need to follow the Constitution, the supreme law of the land. If our elected officials can’t follow the laws they swore by to protect and defend, then what good are laws. What message does it send to the American people? [Do as I say, not as I do or I’m immune from the constitutional laws] I see our elected official break the law all the time why are they not held accountable and why are they not held to a higher standard?

  • Beverly Buckman

training for WHAT? We all know what happens when they have a “DRILL” they will do the “REAL THING”….FALSE FLAG ATTACKS!

    • Luke

LOL Wow, you’re crazy. It’s called Robin Sage. Look it up. It’s been going on since the Green Berets were commissioned by JFK.

“If the separation of powers are eliminated, who will protect
    the Constitutional rights of citizens?”

What kind of question is this? Do you even know what they are doing? Maybe the army is coming in to give law enforcement some training and pointers on how to take care of certain situations. It’s certainly not unheard of. Some soldiers make a living training law enforcement and personnel. What exactly is the point of this article?

    • Daniel Newell

There is no reason military personnel should be training LEO’s in tactics. Those are two entirely different skill sets that should stay separate.

      • Michael B

False. Local cops do need training on how to handle ambushes, bombings, and other terrorist methods of attacking civilian targets.

Never mind that in this case, the cops are providing training for the Army, and acting as the “enemy” police force.

        • Daniel Newell

Local PD are not supposed to deal with all of the above. There are special units to deal with all of the above. The problem is the federal government is trying to integrate all LEO agencies. Eventually it will all be under one banner, the feds. Communication between agencies is good, integration is not… All these laws put into place to “protect us” from “terrorism” that are violating our rights are wrong regardless. If we let them change our way of life because we are afraid, then they have won.

          • Michael B

(sigh) Cops are ambushed regularly by nut cases, ordinary vanilla bank robbers, and other non-terror suspects. Yes: every cop needs tactical training on how to survive the unexpected attack and serve their local communities when whackos take out their frustrations and rage on the innocent.

No, we are not in danger of having the federal government “take over” state and local police forces. The Feds don’t want that job, and local and national politicians aren’t asking for them to take over.

Terrorists “win” every time they get coverage from the media. Until the “entertainment” industry understands that and starts to ignore them (as they ignored a million people rallying in DC for “Pro Life” yesterday), terrorism works.

          • Daniel Newell

You make some good points, however LEO’s should not be trained by military personnel. Its because of the difference of ideologies. Military personnel are taught to treat situations differently than civilians because they are in combat situations overseas. LEO’s are in America. They are dealing with civilians so their methods differ. We don’t need Cops to act like military personnel, we need them to act like cops.

  • Lt. William J. Lawler II, M.Ed

This is all likelihood merely “Operation Robin Sage”. It could be used for nefarious purposes but in itself is actually quite harmless.

    • Luke

Exactly right. I am a green beret and this is called operation Robin Sage. Look it up on the internet. It’s the last big training event before SF candidates get to wear a green beret. It’s part of SF training and happens all the time. Get a life everyone. Not everything is a conspiracy.

      • Hut

I would agree, but according to this article, these Ops aren’t taking place on or around Bragg/Mackall, which as you know is primary locale for RS. Unless they’ve moved the location, this does seem odd, but I wouldn’t think it was outside the realm of possibility…

      • totenglocke

“Get a life everyone. Not everything is a conspiracy.Get a life everyone. Not everything is a conspiracy.”

Says someone who swore an oath to defend the will of politicians and would willingly murder every last person visiting this site if your masters in D.C. ordered it.

        • Luke

That just shows the level of ignorance displayed by people who read this blog. There isn’t a special operator anywhere in existence that would obey orders to impose martial law CONUS. Put your tinfoil hat back on and go back to your trailer. Moron. No one is my master. Especially the politicians in DC.

          • totenglocke

“There isn’t a special operator anywhere in existence that would obey orders to impose martial law CONUS”

Apparently you’ve never read a history book. US soldiers have shown time and again that they are ready and willing to fire on unarmed Americans if ordered to do so.

            “No one is my master.”

Says a guy who’s job is literally to do whatever he’s told.

            “Especially the politicians in DC.”

You mean like the guy who is your supreme commander?

          • Luke

Do tell me about a time when MILITARY special forces have imposed illegal martial law to infringe upon constitutionally protected citizens with lethal force. I’d love to hear about it.

          • totenglocke

“Martial law” itself? Never. Fired on unarmed protesters? Several times. My personal favorite for pointing out that thugs like you are full of crap, is the Bonus Army when US soldiers (led by Patton!) fired on unarmed US military veterans protesting to get their promised bonuses early.

Or what about the National Guard (part of the military) murdering unarmed protesters at Kent State not that long ago?

I can’t find the list now, but there have been 6-8 instances over the last century of US troops firing on unarmed Americans. Yes, I know that you want to keep pushing the PR bullshit to get people to support you taking away their freedoms, but you ARE the bad guys and your very existence is unconstitutional (see the article on this site from a few days ago if you don’t believe it).

          • Luke

Never. That’s exactly what I thought. Believe it or not, there is a HUGE majority of people in the military that believe in freedom and limited government. Like I said earlier, not everything is a conspiracy and the US military is overwhelmingly comprised of good people who believe in God, family & country. Are there bad ones? Of course. Just like some of the libertarians like you who give the rest of us a bad name. Take it down a notch dude.

          • totenglocke

“Believe it or not, there is a HUGE majority of people in the military that believe in freedom and limited government.”

Right, which is why they sign up to blindly murder anyone they are told to without question. *rolls eyes* No one who believes in freedom or limited government would sign up to murder anyone that politicians tell them to, while also racking up trillions in unnecessary debt just to make Americans too afraid of being murdered to stand up for their rights.

“Like I said earlier, not everything is a conspiracy and the US military is overwhelmingly comprised of good people who believe in God, family & country.”

Bull. I’ve spent plenty of time around soldiers (both officers and regular meat shields) and I’ve yet to meet a single one who doesn’t believe that the government should have infinite power and that “peasants” should obey or die. I recently spent a week on an Air Force base and hear both officers and airmen talk (smiling at the thought!) about how they’d murder any Americans who stood up to the government.

“Just like some of the libertarians like you who give the rest of us a bad name.”

Right, because pointing out that you’re a cowardly murderer who’s job is literally to murder anyone your masters disagree with is giving libertarians a bad name. You are not “one of us”, you are one of those who exists to do everything you can to ensure that liberty never returns to this country. If you want us to believe that you are against all of the government oppression, then actually uphold your oath to defend the Constitution and turn your gun on the criminal politicians in DC. But you won’t, because you exist to do their bidding.

          • Luke

Just like all conversations with libertarians do it circles back to the fact that I’m just a murdering drone who does my masters bidding blah blah blah. Whatever dude. And some Air Force POGs said they’d “murder American citizens” if they stood up to the government huh? That’d be the day. And what were you doing on an AF base anyways? Which one?
Since this conversation has come full circle in a predictable way, I’m going to disengage. I have to go murder some American citizens for my masters in DC because I do their bidding. I can only hope that I’ll be sent to your part of the country.

          • totenglocke

And as usual with military cowards, not a single fact is given, just insults. Grow up and get a real job.

  • EndCorruptCorporatocracy

Any sheriff that participates in this sort of stuff in a secretive manner doesn’t fully understand the importance of his/her position.

    • Michael B

The sheriff isn’t being secretive. It’s a classic, 60 year old SF training program that has been going on around Bragg since the 1960’s.

  • batmanroxus

Yeah that’s right, get trained from the most predictable idiots around.

  • Jack Perry

Well… you see the US Army is practicing just outside Washington, DC because the time will come that the US Army will need to overtake the White House and arrest that good for nothing Obama and hang him for his treasonous acts against the United States. …. Now… what they should really do is go after Clinton and eliminate them as well and then there is Biden (who only has a “shotgun” as they don’t need any other weapon. Then we can all sit back and open a cold one.

    • Karolyn

Jack: Sounds like wishful thinking but, oh how wonderful it would be for this to happen. They need to stick to their oath and take this usurper and his minions out of the people’s WH!

    • totenglocke

If you think the government thugs would ever turn on their masters, you’re sadly mistaken. Their loyalty always has been and always will be to the government and they will gladly kill you to protect the interests of politicians.

People need to stop worshiping the thugs who serve politicians and realize that it’s the armed thugs who are the real enemy of freedom.

  • Damien

Time to take back our country.

    • MacFly1

No, Mr. Bond. You’re going to die.

      • Vajoynus

Everyone is going to die eventually. What better cause is there rather than to die fighting for liberty?

      • Damien

Only pussy liberals like yourself, will die.

Now, get out of your parents basement, get a job & stand up for something rather than sucking Government dick!

  • Dr

Didn’t SC move to nullify Obamaca(nc)re? Don’t they trust the people of SC?

  • MacFly1

    Answer: We’re screwed.

  • 4570

The comments below make me ask: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF WACO – OR RUBY RIDGE????? How about more recently Katrina?Jeeez, how soon we forget. :-(

  • V

Not surprising, considering that Richland County is right at Columbia, South Carolina… the closest metro to Augusta, GA… which is home to Fort Gordon.

    • Dylan Kroll

Columbia, SC also has Fort Jackson, a major basic training base.

  • Daniel Newell

Why would LEO’s need to drill with military personnel at all? Those are two entirely different skill sets…

    • Dennis Boylon

      That is soooooooo 1980s

    • Dylan Kroll

Yup. Cops have never had to fire their guns, clear a house with a suspected bad guy in it, perform first aid on a wounded buddy, or anything like that before. Ever.

      • Daniel Newell

and they have to learn this from the military? Its because of the difference of ideologies. Military personnel are taught to treat situations differently than civilians because they are in combat situations overseas. LEO’s are in America. They are dealing with civilians so their methods differ. We don’t need Cops to act like military personnel, we need them to act like cops.

      • sean mack

Bullshit. The level of police military training running today is simply unprecedented in our nation.

    • F34RTEHR34PER

The cops will be the enemies vs the SF. That is all. It’s been done with several agencies of the past few years.

  • Steafan Dubhuidhe

The fascists have already taken over. It’s time to dissolve the Federal Government and return all power to the states.

  • dave

I’m sure the excuse the Sheriff would give for this excercise is that it’s for the “war on terror”. Never mind that the cops working alongside the military is UNCONSTITUTIONAL !!!!! What is most alarming is that, the average American (SHEEP) seem to have no problem with our nations descent into a FASCIST Police State.

    • F34RTEHR34PER

The cops will be the targets lol. Goodness.

    • Tamiz Khan

False Flag wars have been used to manipulate sheep for a long long time.

  • Jewelie Dee

    Thank you for reporting this.

  • anne sweeney

Someone needs to tell them where and who the real enemies are. They’re in Washington, and reside in a big White Building. They have two houses and betrayed US Troops and left brothers behind. Remember Benghazzi !

    • totenglocke

The real enemies are those who wear uniforms and murder for the government. Nothing any politician says or does mean jack without the government thugs willing to kill you in order to make sure that the will of politicians is carried out.

      • Tamiz Khan

And if people had resisted just a little back in 1938 Germany those government thugs could never have killed so many.

        • Michael B

(sigh) the German population WANTED the Jews gone, they wanted the Communists locked up, they wanted “aliens” (which included Jews) arrested and deported.

The German police and army killed 20 million Slavs (Russians, Poles, Ukrainians, etc) and a few million Jews and other ‘unwanted’ human beings because the German people WANTED revenge for losing WW I.

The Nazis had almost no opposition from the people between 1938 and 1944, resistance only started after it was clear that the Nazi system was LOSING the war.

  • Blither box

Theres a gun in your face. The officer barks an order,”Live free or die.”.What do you do?What do you do?

    • Joshua Wickham

      die free

  • Swivelgames

I just have to say… I’m really not a fan of the label “Warrior Cop”. I think that gives them too much credit. They’re not “Warrior’s,” fighting for anything worth merit, they’re Militarized Oppressors at their worst.

    • Tamiz Khan

True. I was at Occupy Berkeley. The police only struck small women/girls in the line. They were too chickenshite to strike grown male students.

  • Eman Xavier

BEWARE the BEAST MAN, for he is the Devil’s pawn. Alone among “AHAYAH’S” creations, he kills for sport, lust and greed. Yea, he will murder his brother Jacob; to possess his brother’s land. Let him [not] breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his moutian lair, for he is the harbinger of DEATH. He is the Eagle of Obadiah, Esau of Malachi, of Rome, Idumiea, Khazaria, Amaleck and the CAUCAS. With his Star of Moloc & Flag of Eagle; although he knows his time is short, he still ravishes and kills for sport. He goes by many names. He is EDOM ! … BEWARE !

  • Michael B

(sigh) This is almost certainly an exercise to train the SF, new trainees who are finishing the Special Forces course. 10 to 1 odds the SF trainees will be “ambushing” and attacking the Sheriff’s Deputies, and simulating a series of insurgent attacks against a notional “police state.”

The cops aren’t being trained, they are the volunteer “targets” of the trainees. The deputies will also learn how to respond properly to ambushes, hostage taking, and sniper attacks.

    • Munieko

That’s why america is like it is cause of people like u who don’t want to see and instead make up a lame ass excuse to justify it, wake your ass up n see it for what it really is stop making excuses for them cause you’re gonna be one of the firsts to go down!!

      • Michael B

Reality is not a “lame ass excuse,” friend.

Don’t make threats your body can’t enforce.

        • purveyor1

“Your’e writing checks your body can’t cash” (Top Gun)

      • F34RTEHR34PER

Michael is 100% correct on this.

    • totenglocke

“The deputies will also learn how to respond properly to ambushes, hostage taking, and sniper attacks.”

You know, because those are common things for local cops to face….

      • Michael B

How long have you been a police officer? What qualifications do YOU have to determine what is or is not appropriate training?

        • purveyor1

Do you know what “toten glocke” means?

        • totenglocke

I have several family members who are thugs – sorry, “police officers” – and I spent three years working as a contractor for one of the largest police departments in the US. They have no need of training in these tactics because they essentially never happen and on the rare occasion they do, that’s why we waste all that money on SWAT teams.

        • sean mack

I call bullshit. Like it or not cops are PUBLIC SERVANTS. Which means the taxpayer houses and feeds their children. Which means the taxpayer should decide where the line between peace officer and soldier is drawn.

          • Michael B

The officers are NOT getting “trained” in this exercise, the SF candidates are the trainees.

Police are just being “police” in these scenarios, the law enforcement agency of a fictional nation where the SF trainees are trying to avoid capture and escape detention.

      • purveyor1

        “DEATH BELL?”
        Curious choice of avatar.

Mein bruderschaft geschicksals was once the unofficial mantra of the Waffen SS

      • Joshua Wickham

I’m sure those things happen everyday there in rural S.C.

  • Dylan Kroll

    Sounds like Robin Sage.

  • Billy Bob

this should have been expected long before now, your leaders have allowed the corporations, bankers and themselves to break the country, it appears they are becoming afraid of americans, so what will they do with disgruntled americans when americans finally figure out what happened to their country and now them. the majority of killing on this planet is done by govts, much of it to their own people, or the people of another country for domination, and taking of resources, your leaders, corporation heads, and bankers are pretty much above the law, the rule of law only applies to dumb sheep, you figure out your future what little you have left.

  • Michael LionHeart

Good report, hope to hear more.

  • totenglocke

$20 says the FOIA request is denied. The Obama administration denies FOIA requests more than any other.

  • Steven

Has anyone heard of New Orleans, LA? Remember when the levies broke in 2005, the US military along with the police went door to door confiscating firearms. Some of you forget too quickly.

There isn’t anything that SC has to worry about. It’s a training exercise, nothing more. Michael B is spot on.

  • Joshua Wickham

yes, when your planing a desert opp you train in the desert. When planing a jungle opp you train in the jungle. When your training for civil unrest why wouldn’t you train with the militarized police. That have already killed more inncont people than iraq and afghan wars combined. No don’t worry, about it as your politicians stands there with armed security, telling you to register your guns just as they did in nazi Germany and the Soviet ussr. Hey don’t worry, as federal agencies continue to buy up absurd amounts off hollow point ammo. You don’t have to worry about it. i sure as hell am and certainly belive it would probably be in your best interests to show concern. Might be a better outcome, than if you just follow the walrus and the carpenter. It didn’t turn out to good for the oysters, the Soviets or the Germans. Odds are not looking good here either its in are face and no none will open there eyes. Thats probably the scariest part of it all.

  • Michelle R-M

It’s not a secret… you just need to know the name of the operation!
