The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2014 (CISA) and supporters of the bill are the newest targets of a group of hackers affiliated with the hacktivist collective Anonymous.

The group call themselves TheAnonMessage (TAM), and have recently gained notoriety online after declaring “war” on the newly formed The Islamic State and supporters of ISIL in the form of a Youtube video.

CISA is being touted by the Anonymous sect as the next in a long line of internet based bills including SOPA, CISPA, and PIPA, all of which failed to pass.  TAM have also made the claim the new bill infringes on the Fourth Amendment rights of all citizens.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein and the Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Saxby Chambliss introduced a draft of the bill on June 17.   The bill “incentivizes the sharing of cybersecurity threat information between the private sector and the government,” wrote the senators, according to RT.

According to Motherboard, CISA would also allow “the federal government to share classified ‘cyber threat’ information with companies (which is good), but also allows companies to share ‘cyber threat’ information about their customers with the federal government—which could be bad, depending on how it’s implemented.”

Twenty-two civil liberties groups have already formed a coalition and wrote about the dangers of the new bill which they say threaten net neutrality and give the NSA more sweeping powers to acquire personal data from citizens without a warrant.

A member of TheAnonMessage spoke with Motherboard via Twitter, saying the sect is very serious about disrupting this bill and laid out their plan of attack.

“First, we spread awareness of the bill. Get people to know what it’s all about,” the member said.  “Then in phase 2, we d0x and deface subjects who support the bill and their websites.  Then in phase 3, we coordinate physical protests with organizations like ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild to try and stop this bill from ever getting passed.”

CISA has yet to be viewed by the House of Representatives and is still a long way from being voted on.
