Is the Government Controlling the Weather?

And we begin today with breaking news out of the Middle East for journalists were detained by Israeli forces over 24 hours ago. Three of them have been released, but one American, an excellent journalist by the name of Jeremy Loffredo with ties to this very network, remains in custody. And right now his whereabouts are still unknown. I’m Ben Swann.

This is Truth in Media

I’m Jeremy Loffredo for the Gray Zone in Israel, where last night, Iran fired over 200 ballistic missiles in retaliation for the assassinations of Lebanese and Iranian political and military leadership. You just watched one of the many reports by Jeremy Le Fredo. He is a journalist. He works with the Gray Zone as a contractor and also with me here at Truth in Media.

In fact, Alfredo traveled to Israel last year and with his help, he researched our series on Israel’s war on Gaza. New reports today indicate that after investigating military and intelligence sites in Israel that were recently hit by Iranian missile strikes, the Fredo and three fellow journalists were reportedly brutally beaten, kidnaped and blindfolded and then sent off to an Israeli military base.

Now, while those other three journalists have been released, Fredo remains in custody, his phone has been confiscated and his whereabouts right now are still shrouded in mystery. Jeremy is a veteran journalist. He’s been on the frontlines around the globe, covering multiple conflicts and, as I mentioned, even contributing to our own series Reckoning Israel and Gaza. Again, it’s been over 24 hours since anyone on our team last heard from Jeremy.

This is a serious situation. We’ll keep you updated as it develops. And if true though, this represents a serious breach of human rights by Israel as they hold a U.S. journalist, we hope to learn more about his detention and why it took place very soon. And as soon as we do, we’ll get you more information. By the way, I should mention we have reached out to the Israeli consulate.

We have not been given any update. As soon as we do, we’ll let you know. All right, switching gears now. And right now, Hurricane Milton is barreling down on the west coast of Florida. Around 6 million people have been ordered to evacuate as that category four storm prepares to make landfall in just a few hours. Officials are warning anyone who has not left yet may be putting their own lives at risk.

As Milton approaches, it’s gone through something called an eyewall replacement cycle. It briefly means that it weakened for a short time to a category five down to a category four. But don’t let this fool you. This hurricane still remains very serious. Up to 18in of rain and a potentially record breaking storm surge of up to 15ft is expected.

Milton is the second major hurricane to hit the area in just the past week after Hurricane Helene passed over the area, leaving a trail of destruction across the East coast. Meteorologist so are calling Milton a perfect storm and blaming climate change for fueling its severity. But could there be other reasons behind the rise of the stronger, more powerful storms, which the harp was really designed to do was to inject energy into the ionosphere, be able to actually control it?

What you just heard there came from a 1992 Senate hearing where David Walker, the Air Force’s deputy assistant secretary for science, technology and engineering, pulls back the curtain on Harp, the infamous high frequency Active Auroral Research program, when grilled about his decision to dismantle a $300 million facility, he declared that the Air Force sees no future need for Harp, claiming that their research is moving toward other methods of managing the ionosphere.

That’s because Harp was originally designed to inject energy into the ionosphere to control it. Don’t believe it? Here’s a report from CBS almost ten years ago. Listen to this. Well, instead of doing a rain dance, we physicists are firing trillion white lasers into the sky to actually precipitate rain clouds and actually bring down lightning bolts. This is potentially a game changer.

Lasers to control the weather. Now, I want to be sure that we make it clear here. We’re not saying that the government is behind hurricanes like Helene or Milton, because we don’t have any evidence of that. But here’s a question for you. If they were talking about it on CBS ten years ago, is it wrong to assume that they’ve achieved their goal in Dubai?

We’ve seen government officials put forth cloud seeding efforts to bring rain down on a notoriously dry desert region. Cloud seeding led to historic flash floods in that region as recently as last year. The way cloud seeding works by injecting tiny particles or nuclei into the atmosphere, which help to form moisture just six years ago, we have President Barack Obama’s very own CIA director, John Brennan, discuss his excitement about the prospects of seeding on climate change.

Listen to this. Another example is the array of technologies often referred to collectively as geoengineering, that potentially could help reverse the warming effects of global climate change. One that has gained my personal attention is stratospheric aerosol injection. Or I, a method of seeding the stratosphere with particles that can help reflect the sun’s heat in much the same way that volcanic eruptions do.

And say I program could limit global temperature increases, reducing some risks associated with higher temperatures and providing the world economy additional time to transition from fossil fuels. And it’s not just lawmakers. Some of the world’s wealthiest people are interested in controlling Mother Nature. Bill gates is launching a new venture that is planning to spray nontoxic dust, he says, into the sky to reflect sunlight and to cool down the planet.

What could possibly go wrong with that? You know, isn’t it ironic that the people claiming to combat climate change are the very ones hoping that they can control it? Again? All that we’re asking here is this happening? And if so, what? We have to wait 40 years to be told the truth. You know, if mainstream media was so willing to talk about these issues just a few years ago, why are they so silent now?

And more than that, why do they say that anyone in 2024 who talks about weather manipulation is a crazy conspiracy theorist, but they reported on it openly just ten years ago. Joining us now to discuss is Jim Fleming, professor of science and tech at Colby College and the author of the book fixing the Sky The Checkered History of Weather and Climate Control.

Jim, thanks for being here with us. Well, I’m glad to be here with you. Obviously, a lot of speculation right now. We’ve heard a lot about, you know, these hurricanes and there’s been accusations about lasers being fired into the sky. And we see it in the news and it’s all about this crazy climate control. You guys are nuts for thinking that the government would ever even consider this.

But the fact is, there is an effort or a desire to control the weather, correct? Yeah, I had a I had a colleague in grad school. I have a degree in atmospheric science as well as history. And one of my colleagues in the military was getting his master’s degree and, proposed to shoot laser beams at the bottom of a cumulus cloud to make it more thunderstorm like.

That was in 1972 or so. So, yeah, there’s there’s a military interest in all of this, my understanding, and you correct me if I’m wrong, is that the goal would be you. You essentially intensify a storm so that it drops a lot of moisture very quickly where you want it to drop it. So in theory, you would maybe fire at a hurricane while it’s out in the Gulf so that it drops a lot of rain and it weakens before it makes landfall.

Is that not the general idea? Well, that’s one of the ideas. The, there’s some notorious military ideas to strengthen the storm, especially if it could be directed against an enemy flotilla. And, that never worked out, but it caused a real tension between the scientists who wanted to understand how the weather works and some other people who wanted to make the weather work for them.

I think at the end of the day, anyone who’s really interested in these experiments, again, from a military standpoint at least, right? They would only want the weather to work for them. That’s kind of the point of this. What do you think is the future of weather modification? Do you think all of this is pie in the sky?

Or do you think that at some point we will see actual, legitimate science behind it that’s able to at least control or manipulate some weather? You can bust the cloud with a prop airplane by flying through it. You can, alter the weather really locally. You can you can alter your own environment around the house. But controlling the global weather has always been a pie in the sky kind of thing.

And, it’s it’s it’s what I call perennial hubris. Professor Jim Fleming, Colby College, thanks so much for your time. Thank you. Well, meanwhile, more political controversy surrounding the impending impact of Hurricane Milton. Vice President Kamala Harris has accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of ignoring her calls concerning emergency preparedness and playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations.

These are the emergency situations. This is utterly irresponsible and it is selfish, and it is about political gamesmanship that is doing the job that you set out to do. Ultimately, she did not convey that to her boss. That’s right. Joe Biden is still in charge, technically. That’s because President Biden has praised governor DeSantis, saying he’s actually been cooperative and is doing a great job.

Meanwhile, preparations for Milton’s impact in the Tampa area are underway, with governor DeSantis having this to say about any looting in the wake of potential hurricane damage. If you think you’re going to go in and loot, you got another thing coming and you go into somebody’s house after the storm passes, think that that you’re going to be able to, to commit crimes, you’re going to get in really serious trouble.

And quite frankly, you don’t know what’s behind that door. In a Second Amendment states. Well, now, to some presidential polling. President Donald Trump is looking increasingly strong in several battleground states while technically trailing in some of these. It’s worth pointing out where he was at the exact same time in the 2016 and 2020 races. Let’s talk about Wisconsin right now.

In the aggregate of polls taken since September. Harris has an 8.8% lead over Trump, less than 1%. But on this exact date in 2020, President Biden had a 5.5% lead in the state, and he barely won. And in 2016, Clinton had a 6.3% lead, and she lost. What about Michigan again? Harris has a 0.5% lead, even smaller. Four years ago, Biden had a 6.7% lead in a state that he marginally won.

Clinton had a 7.3% lead in a state that she lost. And what about the other important Pennsylvania? Trump actually has a 0.2% lead there in 2020. Biden was up by 7.1 percentage points. He barely took the state. Clinton in 2016 was leading by a whopping 9.4 percentage points in a state that she famously lost. So are the polls today undercounting Trump voters by the same margin they did in 2016 and 2020?

Well, no. In 30 days. And as we move towards the election, you can always catch all of our coverage on the race. Check us out on X truth Underscore in media and watch all of our episodes. Full episodes at Truth and media.com.
