Dr. Ron Paul: Haspel is Not the Problem. The CIA is the Problem.

As a general rule, when Dick Cheney favors a foreign policy position it’s best to be on the opposite side if you value liberty over war and authoritarianism. The former vice president’s enthusiastic endorsement of not only Gina Haspel as CIA director but of the torture program she oversaw should tell us all we need to know about Haspel.

Dr. Ron Paul: Election Process “Is Orchestrated By Mainstream Media”

Dr. Ron Paul, former Congressman and host of The Ron Paul Liberty Report, told RT’s Ameera David that he believes the mainstream media orchestrates some of the election process, and that presidential candidate Donald Trump is an authoritarian and brags about it.

[Related: Lew Rockwell Calls for Grassroots Campaign to Draft Ron Paul for House Speaker]

Ameera David: I first asked Dr. Paul what he thinks it says that the three candidates from the private sector are doing the best, does that mean the economy is the foremost issue on the minds of most Americans?

Ron Paul: Well probably yes, but if you look at the Democrat side, you have someone like Bernie Sanders, who has been in nothing else except politics. And he’s doing pretty well. And most incumbents are reelected.

So I think some of this stuff in the presidential campaigns is orchestrated by the major media. It is entertainment. They have competitions going on and on. So I don’t put a lot of stock [in the presdential process], this is still pretty early. ..

Donald Trump is an authoritarian and he brags about it. “I’m the boss and I tell people what to do.” Well, government happens to be a little different than that.

An authoritarian is the opposite of a libertarian. A libertarian wants to release the individuals, get government out of our lives, out of the economy, and out of all these places around the world…

The Flow: The Magnificent Obsession Of Ron Paul

https://youtu.be/lTRSiMiI-qA

Ron Paul joins Kurt Wallace to discuss his new book Swords into Plowshares where he reveals intensely personal stories of himself. He discusses how war is tailored to special interests and propaganda versus the peaceful nature of people.

He reveals why he didn’t really want to be president, while working harder than his opponents.

Dr. Paul talks about practicing medicine, medical philanthropy and what it was like for him to deliver babies. He explains why the power of voluntary answers and free markets serve the benefits of society.

Most interesting was the special moment where Ron Paul shares why he believes in doing things from the principle of anonymity: “If you do it from the heart and you’re expecting a lot of praise, then you’re sort of charging something for it.” He then references the book and movie Magnificent Obsession.

He also tells us what he’s most proud of about his son Rand Paul.

EXCLUSIVE: Ted Cruz Explains Why Ron Paul Supporters Are Working On His 2016 Run

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkcYdOz2kxI&feature=youtu.be

Florida governor and 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush raised many eyebrows recently when he claimed “I have libertarian blood running through my veins.” The comment was an appeal for liberty-minded voters to give his campaign a look.

But Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) has already appealed to many liberty-Republicans.

Recently, at a town hall event in South Carolina, Truth In Media’s Joshua Cook asked Senator Cruz why so many supporters of Ron Paul are now working for the Cruz campaign.

“Thanks for the question, it’s one of the most encouraging aspects of our campaign,” Senator Cruz replied. “If we’re going to win we’ve got to reassemble that old Reagan coalition. We’ve got to bring together conservatives, Evangelicals and libertarians. We’ve got to bring together young people, Hispanics and women and Reagan Democrats.”

“In 2012 I was the only candidate in the country who was endorsed by Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. And the reason is, I had built a record of standing and fighting for the Constitution, fighting for religious liberty, fighting for liberty. And when you stand for the Constitution, and when you stand for the Judeo-Christian values that built this country, that can bring people together behind shared principles,” answered Cruz.

“So I’m very proud to have the support of a great many of libertarians and liberty-minded folks here in South Carolina and nationally,” said Cruz.

Steven Long, a liberty activist in South Carolina who attended the Cruz campaign event, told Cook, “I support Cruz because he is a conservative leader that we can count on. He shut down the government to attempt and end Obamacare—one of the worst laws in our nations history. When Rand Paul had his filibusters, Cruz was there to support him, but when Cruz had his filibuster, Paul was nowhere to be found. Cruz speaks the truth about the establishment and he doesn’t try and cozy up to them to get ahead. You’ll never see him endorse Mitch McConnell. He has a record of arguing before the Supreme Court and as Solicitor General he headed up many cases. In the senate he has been a steadfast leader and has never compromised his values.”

COOK: Ron Paul’s Endorsement of Rand Paul: Will Liberty Lovers Follow Suit?

When I asked Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) last year about his views on police demilitarization, reforming drug sentencing, and restoring voting rights to non-violent felons, I posed this question: “Is your brand of republicanism the new civil rights movement?” Paul replied, “You know, I think you can look at it that way.” It was around … Continue reading COOK: Ron Paul’s Endorsement of Rand Paul: Will Liberty Lovers Follow Suit?

Ron Paul: Liquidation, Bankruptcy Possible Solutions To Greek Debt Burden

There is no way for the people to vote themselves out of the Greek debt burden, according to Ron Paul. So does Sunday’s strong “no” vote in Greece mean that the Keynesian crisis will continue?

In today’s Liberty Report, Paul discussed how 61 percent of the people in Greece voted yesterday to drop the euro, to not follow the International Monetary Fund and to get good loans. The reaction? “The markets fizzled and the market is still down, but it’s not in a panic state,” Paul said.

Daniel McAdams, co-host of the Liberty Report, said the vote reflects “the real sense of anger among Greeks, probably shared by a lot of other Europeans of the European bureaucracy.”

This problem of debt spending and bad loans is going to happen for a long time to come because of Keynesian economics, Paul said. Those in central economic planning, not only on the local level but in the European Union and the IMF, are making mistakes. “It’s like building skyscrapers with a yardstick that changes every day,” Paul said. “You have to give up on these basic principles that debt is good, debt is money.”

Philosophically, operating under Keynesian principles, governments have to come to rescue when these companies continue to accumulate debt without an corrections, Paul said. Now the Greeks are dealing with what to do with the debt. Liquidation and bankruptcy are likely the only solutions.

Ron Paul: ‘Nearly Impossible To Opt-Out’ Of California Vaccine Law

What are the implications for our liberties when government decides to play doctor with its citizens?

Consider the California vaccine law. It’s nearly impossible to opt-out of the new mandatory laws approved by Gov. Jerry Brown, according to Ron Paul. The law is among the most restrictive mandatory vaccine laws in the United States. Actor and comedian Jim Carrey took to Twitter to vent his frustrations with the law, calling it “corporate fascism.”

Ron Paul Questions Obama’s Plan to Restore Full Relations With Cuba

President Barack Obama’s announcement today that the United States will restore full relations with Cuba is a good start, according to Ron Paul. But he still questions whether Congress will block funding for an American embassy in Havana, and has concerns about the travel and trade embargo.

It’s about time,” Paul said. “The Americans and the Cubans are signing a document that says that we will have diplomatic relations and that we will have [an] embassy open up in Cuba. That, of course, is something that when I was in office and you helped so much in trying to get better relations with Cuba and move this along. It looks like this is going to happen, but my guess is that it’s not going to be snap our fingers and everything back to normal.”

Paul shared some history of the breakdown of relations between the U.S. and Cuba, recalling a time when the U.S. had an embassy there. It was during the time of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who Paul said had a role in the breakdown of relations through his support of Fulgencio Batista. “It turns out that Batista wasn’t exactly an easy guy to defend,” Paul said, and explained how Batista created a military coup in 1952 with the assistance of the U.S. government—the year Eisenhower was first elected.

Our government may not be involved in Cuba militarily, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t intervening in foreign affairs, Paul explained, saying that we should not get involved in trying to perfect other government systems around the world until the U.S. has achieved its definition of perfect protection of human rights and civil liberties here at home.

Despite his optimism about the embassy and government cooperation, Paul said that it isn’t necessarily the best way to establish relations. “It should be people to people,” he said.

Ron Paul: Are Neocons Rethinking Animosity Toward Al Qaeda?

Neoconservatives are rethinking animosity toward al Qaeda, which they say is the enemy of our enemy. Did they forget the connection between al Qaeda and 9/11?

Ron Paul discussed this in his latest Liberty Report, saying that the neocons are unwilling to consider that American policy in Iraq and Syria wrong. Rather, they continually push for changing tactics—but the tactics are a total failure. This could be why neocons are looking to reach out to al Qaeda, he said.

According to Liberty Report co-host Daniel McAdams, the neocon perspective is that it’s all Obama’s fault for not invading Syria in 2013 on trumped up charges of President Bashar al Assad using chemical weapons on his own people. Now, backed in a corner, the neocons believe we have to look at other allies, and that we need to change our ideas about al Qaeda.

At 3:19, McAdams traces our government’s strategy against Iraq and Syria to a 1996 document presented by U.S. officials to the Israeli government. The document, he said, was essentially a list for Israeli dominance in the Middle East. The document is called “A Clean Break.”

Number-one on that list was we’ve got to get rid of Assad in Syria because it challenges policies not just there but toward Lebanon,” McAdams said. “So the roadmap to get there was first going through Iraq and overthrowing Hussein—which they did—then moving on to Syria. It sounds conspiratorial, but if you follow the way events actually happened, they have happened that way. And then you have the myth of the Arab Spring, which was a spontaneous uprising, they say. But it was really nothing of the sort.

Ron Paul On Same-Sex Marriage: Why Is Government Involved In Sacrament?

Last week the Supreme Court decided to overrule state laws and allow same-sex marriage across the nation. While many news outlets reported this decision as granting a new right, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul reminded viewers of his Liberty Report that rights do not come from our government—they are natural to us all. A 5-4 ruling does not mean same-sex marriage is a new right, he said.

I think it raises the issue of licensing,” Paul explained. “What they are really talking about is they are changing how you can get a license. The federal courts are overruling what states have done and in many ways they are changing the definition of marriage, which seems to be way beyond what governments are supposed to do. . . . I’m convinced that this could have been prevented by maybe having a lot less laws in the land.

Daniel McAdams, co-host of the Liberty Report, commented that both sides have it wrong, that the traditional family supporters and the same-sex marriage supporters are missing the point. Paul agreed, and shared his views on marriage.

I see marriage as a sacrament, but not everybody wants to see it as a sacrament,” he said. “Why is the government involved in sacrament?” He likened the idea of a government-issued license for marriage to having a government-issued license for baptism.

If we lived in a libertarian free society, you would be able to make your own decision as long as you didn’t exert aggression against somebody else,” Paul continued. “Those who believe in traditional marriage could have a traditional marriage and get married in a church, and those who want a secular marriage can do that too. But I don’t think we’re anywhere close to that today.”
