Secretary of State John Kerry is warning Russia that unless the nation changes its course in Ukraine, serious consequences are in store. Kerry gave Russia a Monday deadline.

The deadline should come as no surprise when Crimea is holding a referendum vote on Sunday to determine whether or not to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation. U.S. and European officials argue that Moscow is orchestrating the referendum and waging an intimidation campaign with thousands of Russian troops controlling the region. Already, western powers have insisted that any vote from Crimea to secede from Ukraine would be illegitimate.

Kerry spoke before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday and explained “There will be a response of some kind to the referendum itself.” Kerry went on to say, “If there is no sign [from Russia] of any capacity to respond to this issue … there will be a very serious series of steps on Monday.”

The big question, what kind of steps is Kerry referring to? Sen. Lindsey Graham asked Kerry if the U.S. would intervene militarily if the Russians attempted to move further west into Ukraine and threatened the new government in Kiev. Kerry’s response… “we have contingencies – we are talking through various options that may or may not be available.”

Meanwhile, according to a report from the New York Times, the Russians are amassing military armored vehicles and troops along Ukraine’s eastern border in advance of Sunday’s vote. Because the vast majority of those in Crimea have Russian heritage and are Russian speaking, Sunday’s vote will likely move in favor of seceding from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation.

Glad to see the US government is spending my tax dollars to make sure that people in Eurasia can’t vote on a referendum to determine their own future. Freedom is on the march.

  • Stuart

US Government accusing another power of interfering with a foreign nations elections and governing? Hypocrisy? From the US? This is new and exciting!

  • freetexas2

This has been done a few times in the past. The Austrians voted to join Nazi

Germany, too. They also had no way to defend themselves should the Germans invade. Wasn’t there a treaty with Ukraine that if they gave their old Russian nukes to Russia, the US, Britain, and Russia would guarantee their borders? So much for that, eh?

    • Bullet Gibson

No there wasn’t. The treaty said all parties would respect the borders of the Ukraine. The only military support we were to give was in the event of a nuclear exchange….chapter 4. That’s it.

Now, if you’re so all fired up about it why don’t you go over there and volunteer to fight like a lot of Americans did before we joined WWI or WWII? No one’s holding you back big guy.

      • freetexas2

So much for Russian “respect,” eh? I don’t like to see big powerful nations take territory away from smaller, weaker nations. Ukraine is not the place to fight this. There’s nothing we can do on this one.

        • Prosta Chudo

we have 1 million reserve troops… we also have privately owned arsenals of ak’s… but we could use an upgrade. I wish I could go back. I’m stuck here.

    • Anatoly Nechaev

It’s funny how you throw the word “Nazi” around. Especially considering that it were neo-nazis who made a armed coup in Kiev. Nice try anyway…

Btw, do you remember Kosovo? Can you say how did they get their “independence”?

      • freetexas2

At the point of a US gun as I remember. Bombing Serbia was also unlawful. I’m not for new wars. We have no business interfering in other nations’ internal affairs.

        • Prosta Chudo

trade with us :) We accept weapons

          • freetexas2

If I was secretary of state, I would. There’s no problem with selling weapons to other nations as long as they are not likely to try to kill you with them. I would stress that if they were used against the US, their HQ/capital/training camp, etc. would tend to disappear in a blinding flash one night.

    • livefree1200cc

Maybe at the time Hitler seemed like the lesser of two evils…..that strategy hasn’t lost its effectiveness to date. Even today, the sheep can’t be bothered by little things like voting on principle. When will we all ‘get it’? The lesser of two evils is still EVIL

  • Enema Of The State

How dare Russia block the United States from installing puppet governments in foreign nations. Ukrainians: Please, USA blow up our country, it’s for our own good.

    • livefree1200cc

This puppet regime in the US runs the the largest terrorist organization on the planet, the US military. How could you doubt their good intentions…….just because they force you with the point of a gun?

    • Prosta Chudo

better to fight back and keep our country than to let Russia have it. I know everyone is not wanting the US war machine to go on. We dont either, but Russia is evil

  • e-i-e-i-o

Yeah, like Russia is shaking in their boots! The Americans would not agree to any war–you would have a revolution in the United States first before another soldiers feet land on Ukraine soil.

    • Prosta Chudo

just send us arms like Brits in world war 2. we will pay

  • Zionistout

Well well well. We can see what the real target is here. The Naval port in Crimea. Exactly what everyone has been saying. The Crimean naval port used by Russia was crucial in stopping the US and Israhells war in Syria. That port is important to Russia’s middle east policy. It is important to the US and the world that the Russian are able to keep America and its Jewish warmongering overlords in check. This proves this “revolution” in the Ukraine is nothing more than the US, israhell, Western Europe and the Jews meddling in the Ukraine to go after Russia and to take that port away. The US needs to stop getting involved in these Jew wars. Stop defending Israhell. It is well known that there are trained Mossad soldiers/agents running around on the ground in the Ukraine, also that Black Water/Academi is also there. It was western groups who did the sniping. This is a fact. This mickey mouse BS has to end now. Russia, the American people do not want a war with you. We never have and never will.

    • Shane Andrea

      You nailed it.

    • Mario

      Right on the money, man!

    • Prosta Chudo

Arm Ukraine. we will pay for the arms just like the brits in world war 2. Russia is an evil annexing empire. I am not saying to give the US anything, but the Russians are worse than you know.

Like anyone cares what John Kerry has to say

  • Kerry is an Imbecile

“I’m going to be honest with you. I don’t know a lot about Cuba’s healthcare system. Is it a government-run system?”
    – John Kerry
Why do we have an imbecile, Satan worshipper, like Kerry, threatening Russia?
I don’t understand how people don’t believe in the Devil when you see the actions of Obama, Clinton, Kerry and their sycophantic followers.
At least 90% of the people on Capital Hill need to be arrested and tried for treason and war crimes.

  • Mario

It is up to every american soldier to AWOL their asses back home and ignore these fuckers’ orders. Time to think for yourselves americans! Time to stop being the world police. It is now time to spend some money on yourselves a little and on your infrasctuctures. Foreign countries don’t give a rat’s ass about the U.S. or Canada (my country), for that matter. But you don’t see Canada giving all these ungrateful fuckers trillions of dollars and you don’t see us trying to bring back democracy overseas. Don’t you find it ironic that the american government is using this excuse to pick fights with countries… while america’s democracy is being completely obliterated by new Acts invalidating the constitution and Bill of rights?!

Elitist Kerry climbed out of the same Skull and Bones coffin that fellow bred moron GW Bush did, after doing his dirty deed in front of his fellows. So we shouldn’t expect any better behavior from him than we got from his war criminal brother ‘Bonesman’. All we can say is our government has been taken over by elitist, satanist criminals aided by the mainstream whore media, and they are continuing to wreck and loot the place, while promoting lies to the public, and playing the theme to Deliverance. We have to continue to stand up for what is right, speak the truth, and reject their constant evil lies and deceit. Syria was rejected as a new war because the American People yelled a resounding NO to their BS and lies.No more war and killing of the innocent for the wicked, inbred elitists and gangster banksters. These sorts of insane people and their actions are the reason it was always illegal to breed within your own family, but they did it anyway. If America does not throw off these psychopaths, it will face utter destruction eventually.

  • William

These lying, manipulating, violent, perverted, psychopaths need to be removed from office and all their masonic buildings and symbols destroyed. The pain and suffering they have caused around the globe to further their greedy agenda, in secret, using the American people to do their dirty work, is unmeasurable.
When will the American people wake up, grow some integrity and courage, stand up for what is right and demand change? I know, you’re still in your comfort zone.
We are not being represented by our congress or senators. This is not a democracy or a republic, it’s a corporate run, corrupt, fascist police state.
